Abuja, February 2026 – The Federal Ministry of Health has launched a nationwide digital mental health program aimed at providing free virtual counseling services to young Nigerians. The initiative, titled MindCare Naija, partners with licensed psychologists and tech startups to deliver confidential therapy sessions via mobile apps and web platforms.
According to the Ministry, rising cases of anxiety, depression, and substance-related disorders among youths prompted the intervention. The program will also integrate mental health education into secondary schools and universities.
Health experts have praised the move, noting that digital platforms reduce stigma and improve access, especially in rural communities.
